Page analysis

I've chosen a page from the Graphic Novel Arkham Asylum, Ilustrated by Dave McKean, who I did a post on earlier. I really enjoy the way his panels are all different sizes, yet they compliment each other, and the un evenness leaves room in the gutters for you to see the images in the backround. All his images are very symobloic and you can feel young Amadeus' nervousness as he enter's his mother's room and slowly realizes what she' s been feasting on.

Steadman!!

I love Ralph Steadman! This British cartoonist and caricaturist is most well known for his art associated with the brilliant Gonzo Journalist, Dr. Hunter S. Thompson. He has also Illustrated copies of Alice in Wonderland, Treasure Island, Animal Farm, and Fahrenheit 451. His work is erratic and maniacal, and very good at capturing the intense lifestyle of the Doc.

On a Side note, he also designed the label for Flying Dog Brewing company (Hunter's brewing company) and they happen to make my favorite beer, Old Scratch Amber. Yum!

Li Wei

These incredible photos ARE NOT digitally manipulated. Rather, they are the work of performance artist Li Wei. Wei uses a combination of mirror, metal wires, scaffolding and acrobatics to accomplish these amazing feats. I stumbled upon this artist (literally, stumbleupon.com)
