John Heartfield

John Heartfield was an artist I had only heard of in passing. I always tried to make a mental note to myself to look him up, and today I've finally done it! Hurray! I love this guy's work. Heartfield was a very strong criticizer of the Nazi regiment and expressed his views through artistic collage. Above is Self Portrait with Police Commisioner. He was so strongly against the state of things in germany he even westernized his name, he was born Helmut Herzfeld. I was drawn to this artist because we both have a strong hate for the nazis. But as for his views, I feel the art speaks for itself. Left is Don't Worry, He's A Vegitarian, and to the right Hurray, the butter is all gone!

Dave McKean

Dave Mckean is an artist who provides me with so much inspiration. I was first introduced to him by reading Arkham Asylum, a batman graphic novel. He's also illustrated many other works in this industry such as the one I read on tuesday call Mr.Punch. But over time I've come to appreciate not just his work as a graphic novel artist, but also as a director. His directorial masterpiece, Mirror Mask, quickly jumped to the top of my favorite films when I saw it this summer. I have never been dissapointed by his works.

A new adventure...

Last night, I went under a bridge I had never been to before. T was with me and we walked through the rain to get to it. Once underneath, the air smelled like fresh rain and wet dog. Water around me and rushing past my feet. The walls were covered in graffitii of both the creative and vulgar sort. The Bridge was dark, cold, but protective. As the rain bucketed outside, we sat in silence for half an hour.
